Barry Hoberman, CEO and Chairman of the Board
Barry Hoberman has served as CEO and Chairman of Spin Transfer Technologies since 2012. He has over 35 years of management and engineering expertise in the semiconductor industry. Prior to his current role, he served as chief marketing officer at Crocus Technology, a semiconductor company. Earlier, Mr. Hoberman was the founder and CEO of inSilicon, a leading semiconductor IP supplier, which was acquired by Synopsys in 2002. His leadership experience also includes CEO positions with Virtual Silicon and T-Zero Technologies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hoberman held management positions at AMD and Monolithic Memories. Mr Hoberman holds B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and over 30 US patents.
Nelson Chan has a long track record of success in both the semiconductor and consumer electronics industries. His experience includes positions as Chief Executive Officer of Magellan, a leader in the GPS navigation and positioning market, as well as Executive Vice President and General Manager at SanDisk, the world’s largest supplier of branded flash data storage products. Mr. Chan holds a number of board positions, including Chairman of the Board of Directors of Outerwall, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Affymetrix, Deckers Brands and Synaptics. Mr. Chan is also a Director or Chairman of the Board of several privately held companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University.
Dr. Chun leads due diligence in physical sciences and manages physical science subsidiaries at Allied Minds. He has led strategic R&D projects at subsidiaries. Dr. Chun began his career as an engineering trainee for NASA at age 17. He developed spacecraft control and dynamics simulation algorithms for Photon Research Associates, and led its biotech subsidiary as CTO to develop and commercialize molecular modeling software for drug discovery. After business school, he participated in and led strategic and market analyses, operational improvements and performance optimization projects for A.T. Kearney; and managed revenue improvement projects at EMC. Dr. Chun joined Allied Minds in 2007.
Marc Eichenberger is the Chief Operating Officer of Allied Minds. Before joining Allied Minds, Mr. Eichenberger established his own professional services firm. His previous roles have included valuation, management advisory, M&A support and temporary senior executive roles, most recently as a Senior Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions with a transportation services firm. He also served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for a small manufacturer of expansion joints. Prior, Mr. Eichenberger was a Senior Principal with the leading consultancy A.T. Kearney. For over 10 years, he supported acquisitions, strategy development, and drove the restructuring of underperforming businesses. Mr. Eichenberger was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Pete Magowan has an extensive record of success leading the marketing, strategic sales and business development of global companies in the semiconductor industry. He led ARM Holdings plc, as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing and other positions, through its market entry into the mobile sector and also served as one of its main board members. Mr. Magowan has also served as General Partner at Alta Berkeley Venture Partners, a European early stage venture capital firm, as well as Head of Moonray Energy, a private investment vehicle for Fidelity International Ltd. Since leaving ARM, Mr. Magowan has invested in or been a board member of 12 technology boards and overseen multiple fundraising efforts, IPOs and trade sales. Currently, he serves on the advisory boards of the venture funds of Queens University Belfast and the University of Ulster and is the Chairman of Amantys Ltd. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology and a Diploma in Marketing from the University of Bristol Business School.
